Passive fire protection by FIRAS-approved installers

We are a FIRAS-approved installer of passive fire protection. Our teams install fire stopping, cavity barriers and fire seals as part of our façade, recladding and drylining packages, or as a standalone package, so compartmentation is built in rather than added afterwards.

What we install

  • Fire stopping

Coated fire batts, and load-bearing fire stopping compounds and mortars around service penetrations.

  • Intumescent seals

Intumescent mastics and sealants that close gaps in a fire.

  • Intumescent coatings

    Applied to structural steel.

  • Linear gap seals

Fire, air and acoustic seals at joints and slab edges.

  • Cavity barriers

Within façade cavities and building voids.

  • Fire-rated boarding

Board systems that protect structural steel.

FIRAS approved

Express Group has been a FIRAS-approved installer since 2020, and our site workforce holds FIRAS accreditation.

FIRAS is third-party certification for installers of passive fire protection, so main contractors can show that fire stopping was installed by a certified contractor.

Built in with the wall

Fire stopping is most easily compromised where one trade hands over to the next. Because we install the SFS, boards, cladding, partitions and ceilings, we can fit cavity barriers and fire stopping in the right sequence as the wall goes up, instead of returning to openings that are already closed.

Fire protection questions

Anything else? Call 01708 554777.

Are you FIRAS approved?

Yes. Express Group has been a FIRAS-approved installer since 2020.

Do you only install fire stopping within your own packages?

We usually install it with our façade, recladding and drylining work, and can also price fire stopping as a standalone package.

Do you install cavity barriers in façades?

Yes. Cavity barriers and fire barriers are part of our façade and recladding build-ups.

What is the difference between a cavity barrier and a fire stop?

A cavity barrier closes a hidden space, such as the cavity behind cladding, so that fire and smoke cannot spread through it. A fire stop seals the gap where a pipe, cable or duct passes through a fire-resisting wall or floor. We install both as part of our façade, recladding and drylining packages.
